Renee Lewis - Owner/Operator
Renee is a 9th or 10th generation, native Floridian who has owned and cared for animals since she was seven years old.
In the 1970s, with the help of her parents, she operated a small Appaloosa breeding farm in Zephyrhills, FL. She bred, trained and showed her Appaloosa Stallion "Anata's Travelon" (a/k/a Rob) in the Central FL Appaloosa Horse Club where he was a halter champion from the age of four months until he was three years old when she stopped showing him. At three years of age he was Jr. English Pleasure Champion and also competed in Western Pleasure, Trail Classes and fun events. Rob was gentle enough she used him to give riding lessons to children. In addition to Rob, she also showed "Domino Patches" who was a Champion Halter, Pleasure and Trail mare, truly a push-button mover.
Over the years she has cared for horses, dogs, rabbits, ducks, chickens, hamsters and other various farm animals. In her Senior year at Zephyrhills H.S. she conditioned and showed the class FFA Charolais steer to 3rd place at the Pasco County Fair.
She attended Biscayne Paramedical Institute in Miami, FL where she attained a double major as Medical Assistant / Veterinary Assistant. She has been a member of the American Medical Technologists as a Registered Medical Assistant in good standing since 1976.
After college, she worked on an Appaloosa and cattle ranch in Haines City, FL where they had 40 horses and 200+ head of cattle. Some of her responsibilities were assisting with daily breeding of the three ranch stallions, keeping stallion breeding records, conditioning and showing horses, administering medication to horses and cattle, transporting horses, occasionally assisting cattle giving birth and tagging & castrating young bulls.
All through high school Renee planned to become a veterinarian. Circumstances beyond her control prevented her from realizing that dream. So now 35 years later, she is realizing her dream to care for animals by starting RENEE LEWIS PET SITTING services.
She is also enjoying her passion again, horseback riding. She has been "pet sitting" Rose, a 26-year-old registered AQHA mare for the past 4 years. They can be seen frequently riding the roads of Altoona or Umatilla. Rose is a pro making "ride through" bank deposits and looks forward to the dog biscuit treats. They are members of Altoona Trail Riders and enjoy the company of other equine enthusiasts.
Your satisfaction and peace of mind are my business.
